Voodoo Daddy’s is unassuming. On a Thursday night in late March, the music venue is quiet, with the exception of glass clinking at the bar and cutlery clashing in the kitchen. On Timberhill in Norwich’s city centre, the venue doubles up as a gig space and pizza joint, and on the 31 st , it housed approximately 50 young folk gathered to see Norfolk’s own Alexander Carson (they/them), and their band, the dot dot dots… At this, the final leg of their tour, Carson’s show is a promotion of his latest album, The Idiot. The album, released in October 2022, is an exploration of overcoming personal demons, the mundane, and quiet love.

British metal has recently found a rich vein of form. Rising stars of the scene Heriot return with a new single designed to push boundaries and move the genre forward.

Oblivious, I’m oblivious! Young Rising Sons released their track Oblivious off of the band’s latest EP titled Young. Young Rising Sons are an American alternative rock band formed in 2010 with roots originating from Red Bank, New Jersey, United States.

The local band is a special thing. It’s a beautiful ode to youthful optimism, where your biggest fan is your best pal, and if you’re lucky one of the most honest and humble musical experiences you can come across. The Exhales tick the boxes, but in their 40 minutes on stage it’s clear that they believe they can offer more.

Following the five years since the release of their last album, it was difficult to know what to expect from the Illinoisan rock band. 2018's Mania was a departure from their usual sound, receiving mixed reviews. So Much (For) Stardust is a welcome step back from this era, closer to the sound that they're known for, but with a twist.

Stylised as CHVRLI BLVCK, Charli Black is a singer-songwriter from London living in the New Forest. Since he started releasing music in mid 2022, Black’s style has become recognisable for its raw, vulnerable lyrics, quickly attracting fans as he has amassed over4,800 monthly Spotify listeners so far. OCEXNS are the type of band that listeners instantly won’t be able to get enough of. The Scottish four-piece create delectable indie rock, filled with buzzing riffs and catchy hooks. Heading in a direction which will surely shake up the Scottish indie-rock scene, their new single ‘Under the Wire’ epitomises what the band is about; solid, good tunes.

Formed in 2018, indie rock supergroup Boygenius consists of individual artists Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, all hailing from the US. Not Strong Enough came out as a single on March 1, and is the first track on their second album, the record, released on March 31. With its striking lyrics, rousing bridge and effortless blend of vocals, Not Strong Enough is, ironically, an impressively strong start to the record

Independent 4-piece The Accolades have arrived on all streaming platforms everywhere with their debut single ‘Inhale’. The Accolades have been gracing ears from Glasgow to Aberdeen (and back) since the hangover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Read all about it here.

Katerina’s first independent single ‘Ballad of a Hollywood Dreamer’ released on the 15th of March is a captivating slow indie track that plays with your emotions, the melancholic guitar accompanied with her beautiful ethereal vocals tell a story of a girl living inside a movie forever after pining after the life of an actress and stepping into the tv screen. On the 13th of October 2022, The Arcs released their lead single Keep on Dreamin’ off their second album Electrophonic Chronic. The Arcs is an American garage rock band formed by Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach in 2015. Electrophonic Chronic is an exciting project that features The Arcs’ original line-up of Auerbach, Leon Michel, Homer Steinweiss, Nick Movshon and the late Richard Swift.

‘Breaking It Down’ is the newest single from Primes, the alternative rock powerhouse from Falkirk. Combining punchy guitars and an anthemic chorus, Breaking It Down sees Primes taking risks with their sound and having it pay off tenfold.

Glaswegian outfit Killing Our Darlings are back with their first single since 2021 with The Ink and the Black. This six-piece outfit have been releasing music as early as 2015 and are in the process of writing their debut album. If The Ink and the Black is anything to go off, this record will be one to look out for.

The Exhales are an indie rock group from Glasgow, Scotland. The group have released two singles to date, releasing their debut track Silver Smile on the 24th of Jun 2022 and following with Call on Karma six months later.
