SckSolo | ‘Within’

August 20 | Written By Kirsten Moreton and Cameron Mackenzie

SckSolo is a rap artist from Las Vegas who has been creating music since 2010 and releasing music on streaming services since 2019, starting out with his debut single ‘Vulture’ which dropped on January 25th of that year. Since SckSolo has dropped the single ‘Eye For an Eye,’ the EP ‘King Soloman’ and most recently, ‘Within’. Now, the up and coming musician is working on new music set to release soon.

SckSolo comes from a military family, moving all across The United States, never staying too long in one place while growing up. Pairing this with his mother leaving him at age four, SckSolos creativity was born. Music became an escape for the aspiring Hip-Hop artist. He began to start writing poetry, which soon developed into songs. SckSolo also taught himself how to produce, record, mix and master his own songs with whatever tools he had available.

‘Within’ released on July 11th and fits perfectly with the artists personal style. The track opens with a lofi like sample and is quickly interlaced with a thumping bass, catchy snares and SckSolos lyrics. The track has a laid back feeling to it, allowing the listener to tune into what SckSolo is saying. For listeners looking for a point of reference, SckSolos voice and tonality can be likened to Vince Staples.

The track feels very complete, a song one would expect from a household name. Talent like his and hard work could soon have SckSolo being heard by the masses. Complementing the sound production is a variety of different flows, keeping the listener truly engaged. Furthermore, the break in the instrumental helps immerse the listener.

‘Within’ is an A-list track that deserves A-list recognision.
