‘In Your Head’ | Mosaics

Mosaics are an indie pop band composed of five members that strive to bring a fun and energising sound with each track they’ve released, including their latest single, ‘In Your Head’ (2024). Operating out of Fife, Scotland, the group was formed in 2019 and has since released a self titled EP and five other singles with fresh new sounds that help solidify them as modern innovators in the genre.
‘In Your Head’ is built upon an iconic tune that’s established in the beginning of the track by lead guitarist Roy Jarvis, bassist Jack Bryce and rhythm guitarist Duncan Lawrie. Lead vocalist, Alex Wilson, rides on their tune throughout the track as it rises and falls through different versions of the initial melody. Drummer, Liam Napier, carries the tempo and brings a lively energy that feels irresistible to tap along with. Each member elevates the song into something incredibly alive and filled with passion.
While not entirely specific, the lyrics seem to describe the singer wishing to make a connection with someone else, but their doubts hold them back from making much progress. Until the chorus triumphantly states that they should love themselves and be in the moment, no matter what the future may hold. Their words inspire a positive outlook on life which is complimented nicely by the upbeat energy throughout. The generality of their lyrics makes the song applicable to any number of situations in life, which makes it all the more re-playable.
‘In Your Head’ is a great single, but isn’t able to capture the full scope of Mosaic’s range as a band. That range lies in their previous two singles, ‘Love Again’ (2023) & ‘Part Of You’ (2023), which show off variations of the lively sound they’ve established. Both these songs, and their latest release, also have unique line art for their album covers that signifies the next step in the band’s evolution.
