August 4 | Written By Emma Porteous

Have you ever longed to be with someone so much that you almost wish that you could travel along with them and be with them at all times? Or maybe you are just pining for your perfect partner. Perhaps you are simply searching for a song to relax to or to transport yourself to a nostalgic mindset. If so, here's a perfect song recommendation for you to explore.

The Jack Fletcher Band

'Living in your Pocket' by Wolverhampton group The Jack Fletcher Band is a new indie-rock release from 14th July this year. Headed by singer Jack Fletcher and accompanied by guitarist George Hadley, bassist Henry Bradley, and drummer Tom Robinson, this band has made their mark in the music industry with their stripped back and nostalgic compositions which can only be described as timeless. The band also seems to be on the rise of popularity, with their repeat appearances at popular festivals such as Lakefest and Party in the Pines Festival.

In this new release, the composition is simple and humble, with emotional vocals lamenting the fear of loss and the wish for companionship. This is supported by the relaxed instrumentation; with gentle guitar and a deep bass backed with soft drums. The song also has a feature from female artist CiCi Howells which brings resonant harmonies and a joyful optimism of reciprocation to the otherwise melancholy piece.

This song will resonate well with those who haven't yet found a summer romance or are just looking for a relaxed indie rock song to play on their upcoming road trip. This track is absolutely an essential on any playlist for those who are a fan of more retro or indie rock artists but want to enjoy something a little less mainstream.

The lyrics themselves are simple and reaffirm the fear of loneliness and wishing to spend time with a close friend or potential lover. 'Can I live in your pocket, I don't wanna be alone' and 'you're my best friend, don't leave me' further convey this message and the emotive vocals of Fletcher and Howells conjure the empathy of the listener.

Take a break from all the upbeat and energetic songs of the summer and listen to this humbling and emotive indie song to wind down and feel that strong sense of nostalgia. Perfect to unwind and transport yourself to simpler times - 'Living in Your Pocket' is available now to stream online and will be a firm favourite for indie lovers around the globe.
