Another Day - ‘Doghouse Roses’ | Single Review

January 31 | Written By Sophia Kenny

Hailing from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, with a catalogue of gigs already in their back pocket, Another Day are to release their debut single ‘Doghouse Roses’ on January 24th, 2025. The track has already been featured on BBC Introducing Kent,  with radio DJ Abbie J McCarthy describing Another Day as her  ‘new favourite band.’

The music video features the typical boisterous four-piece on the  beach, the epitome of an English indie boyband, accomplishing backflips from various locations, a skill featured many times in

their live performances. The scene of the video is mostly set on  the beach, a key idea presented within the apt lyric ‘the  anchor of my ship has now lost its groove.’

The track is a staple for all indie lovers, and at first listen, wouldn’t go a miss on the ‘Inbetweeners’ soundtrack. After a lean into the indie sleaze resurgence in 2024, Another Day are certain to be picked up by those who enjoyed that musical era. As a debut single, the band have certainly shown their strengths and established themselves well. The use soft yet grungy guitar is a perfect reminder for those previous fans of bands like The Magic Gang, along with a scattering of grunge vocals. The bridge also features a Stone Roses-esque style twang, which builds back into a massively catchy, anthem-style chorus.

Despite already having a vast collection of original songs that fans are familiar with from performing at many gigs across the capital,  ‘Doghouse Roses’ is the official debut for the band. It seems that  Another Day are ready to introduce themselves to the world with various sneak peaks of their unreleased tracks featured on their  Instagram, as well as the whereabouts of their next live performances.
