Avril Lavigne rose to prominence back in the early 2000’s when she released her debut album ‘Let Go’. The tracks on this album would turn her into a global pop punk princess. Featured tracks from the debut album included ‘Sk8er boi’, and ‘Complicated’. The track complicated became a pop punk ballad, and the highest selling track recorded by a Canadian female artist. In the visuals for these music videos Avril is seen rocking her own individual style, trendy clothes and makeup looks.

Last summer Avril celebrated 20 years since the debut album release date. She also got her own name on the Hollywood star of fame, where she originally took pictures when she first came to visit and record the album at age 16.

Her most recent album ‘Luv Sux’, released under blink 182 member, Travis Barker’s label, seen her return to her rock and pop punk roots. Popular tracks on this album featured the catchy ‘Bois Lie’ featuring Machine Gun Kelly, and ‘Love It When You Hate Me’ featuring Blackbear.

There is no denying that Avril is seen as inspiration and an influential figure in the pop punk genre and to the people the grew up listening to her music. Younger millennial female artists such as Billie Eilish cite her as a respected artist that she admires.

Avril is due to perform this summer in the UK, for her ‘Luv Sux’ tour.
